At the start of our public vote, there is no public. Andriy Pyatov is the only goalkeeper to meet our criteria and he has owned the No. 1 position throughout this decade for Ukraine and is currently the captain.
Prone to a mistake, but also to moments of pure inspiration, Pyatov is the only Ukrainian goalkeeper to have consistently played at the highest level for club and country. It looked as his time as Ukraine No.1 would be coming to an end before it got going at the start of the decade and he was only picked for Euro 2012 due to injuries and suspensions to other keepers. However, his determination helped him through and he is among the first names on the team sheet for Zbirna. This decade he has made 76 appearances for Zbirna, conceding 60, meaning he regularly keeps a clean sheet.
At the end of 2019, Pyatov became the highest capped goalkeeper for Ukraine as he overtook Olexandr Shovkovskyi’s (92) appearance record, becoming the fifth highest capped player for Ukraine in the process.
